Sheffield Track & Field Dominates Cameron County Meet
EMPORIUM — Sheffield’s track & field program showcased their dominance in a meet against Cameron County on Monday, with the boys team securing a resounding 128-13 victory over the Red Raiders, while the girls fell short with a score of 89-42.
The boys’ relay teams were the highlight of the meet, sweeping all three events. From the 3,200-meter relay to the 1,600-meter relay, Sheffield’s athletes displayed exceptional teamwork and speed. Despite a minor mishap in the 400-meter relay, where the baton was dropped on the final handoff, the Wolverines managed to recover and finish ahead of Cameron County.
Individual performances were also outstanding, with Alex Marfink excelling in the 110 hurdles and Colby Barr dominating the 100 meters and 400 meters. Other notable victories came from Dylan Hardwick in the 800 meters and high jump, and Will Zdarko in the 200 meters and javelin throw.
On the girls’ side, Sarah Hoffman continued her winning streak in the hurdles, claiming victory in both the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles. Emily Foster also stood out by winning the high jump event.
Sheffield will now prepare for a tri-meet against Johnsonburg and Dubois Central Catholic on Friday, where they will look to continue their winning momentum and showcase their talent on the track.
