Wolves face Mavericks in West Finals with deficit to overcome, similar to Nuggets’ comeback

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Minnesota Timberwolves find themselves in a tough spot in the Western Conference finals against the Dallas Mavericks, down 2-0 as they head to Dallas for Game 3. The Mavericks, led by Luka Doncic, are on the verge of making their first trip to the NBA Finals.

Despite the deficit, the Timberwolves are not panicking, drawing inspiration from the Denver Nuggets’ comeback against them in the previous round. The Wolves have led for the majority of the series but have been unable to close out games, with Doncic hitting a game-winning shot in Game 2.

The pressure is on stars Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns to step up their game and help Minnesota get back in the series. Edwards has been struggling with fatigue, while Towns has been outplayed by Dallas’ big men in the paint.

Minnesota coach Chris Finch has called for better decision-making from Edwards and a calmer approach from Towns. The Wolves will need both players to elevate their performance if they want to turn the series around.

Meanwhile, the Mavericks are staying focused on the task at hand, not getting overconfident despite their 2-0 lead. Doncic and Kyrie Irving have been leading the charge for Dallas, with support from their role players.

As the series shifts to Dallas, the Timberwolves will need to dig deep and find a way to get a win on the road to keep their championship hopes alive. The Mavericks, on the other hand, will look to close out the series and secure their spot in the NBA Finals.
