The University of Missouri women’s basketball team is gearing up to compete in the Emerald Coast Classic, as announced by the tournament organizing committee, Global Sports. The inaugural competition is set to take place on Nov. 25 and 26 at Raider Arena on the campus of Northwest Florida State College.

The Tigers will be part of the Beach Bracket and will face off against tough competition from Creighton, Syracuse, or Wichita State. Tournament director Maury Hanks expressed excitement about the event, aiming to establish it as one of the top preseason women’s college basketball events annually.

Heading into the tournament, the Tigers boast a talented roster led by All-SEC Freshman Team member Grace Slaughter, who averaged 11.5 points per game last season. The team has also added depth with new signings and transfers, including Tionna Herron, Tilda Sjökvist, Nyah Wilson, and Laniah Randle.

Northwest Florida State College’s director of athletics, Ramsey Ross, expressed enthusiasm about hosting the tournament, highlighting the region’s passion for collegiate athletics. Global Sports, the tournament organizer, has a track record of producing successful college basketball tournaments and is set to host three more during the upcoming season.
