Women’s Tennis Advances to Title Match with Historic Comeback

In a thrilling NCAA D-III women’s tennis semifinal match, the No. 3 University of Chicago Maroons staged a historic comeback against the No. 2 Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens to secure a 5-4 victory and advance to their third straight national title match.

The Maroons found themselves in a 0-4 deficit after losing all doubles matches, putting them in a tough spot against a strong Pomona-Pitzer team. However, the tide began to turn as Sylwia Mikos, Lin, Vesely, and Biria secured crucial singles victories to tie the match at 4-4.

The deciding point came down to the fifth singles match, where Guo battled for over four hours in challenging conditions to secure a 6-4, 7-5 victory and complete the remarkable comeback for the Maroons.
