Women’s Tennis Defeats Campbell to Progress to CAA Semifinals

In a thrilling match at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center, William & Mary’s women’s tennis team extended their winning streak to 12 matches with a 4-1 victory over Campbell. Despite dropping the doubles point, the Tribe rallied with four singles wins to secure their spot in the CAA Semifinals.

Graduate student Yu Chen, juniors Hedda Gurholt and Ine Stange, and freshman Francesca Davis all contributed to the team’s success with impressive victories over the Camels. The win marked the 12th consecutive victory for William & Mary, tying the program’s second-longest win streak in history.

After Campbell took the early lead by winning the doubles point, Francesca Davis quickly leveled the score with a dominant performance in singles play. Chen, Stange, and Gurholt followed suit with their own victories, clinching the win for the Tribe.

With this victory, William & Mary advanced to the CAA Semifinals for the 11th consecutive tournament. They will face either No. 3 seed Charleston or No. 6 seed UNCW in the next round on Saturday, April 27.
