The No. 42 TCNJ women’s tennis team continued their impressive run in the NCAA Tournament with a dominant 5-0 victory over Manhattanville at MIT. The Lions, who have now won 17 consecutive NCAA Tournament matches, advanced to the second round where they will face off against No. 10 Middlebury.

TCNJ got off to a strong start in the match, taking a 2-0 lead before even stepping onto the court due to Manhattanville only fielding five players. This resulted in forfeits in the third doubles and sixth singles matches.

In the doubles matches, Robinson secured a win for TCNJ due to Manhattanville’s forfeit at No. 6, while Warner clinched the victory with a double-bagel win over Mikhalia Grant at No. 5. In the singles matches, Priyadarshini was leading 6-3, 6-0 at No. 4 when the match ended.

TCNJ improved their overall record to 17-2 with the win, while Manhattanville dropped to 8-5. The Lions have now won 10 consecutive NCAA Tournament openers with 5-0 sweeps. They will now face Middlebury, a strong NESCAC team with six straight Final Four appearances, in the next round.

In other matches at the MIT regional, Whitman blanked Endicott 5-0 and will face the No. 11 Engineers in the second round. The stage is set for an exciting matchup between TCNJ and Middlebury as both teams look to advance further in the tournament.
