Princeton Women’s Tennis Clinches Fifth Consecutive Ivy League Title

In a thrilling conclusion to a packed month of Ivy League play, the No. 39 Princeton women’s tennis team secured their fifth consecutive Ivy League championship this weekend. With a record of 15-6 overall and 6-1 in Ivy League play, the Tigers dominated the competition and earned their 18th conference title in program history.

The road to victory was not without its challenges, as the Tigers suffered a single loss to the No. 60 Pennsylvania Quakers in their first match of the season. However, they quickly rebounded and went on to win six consecutive meets, including impressive victories over ranked opponents such as Columbia, Yale, and Harvard.

The weekend play, which took place at the Lenz Tennis Center, saw the Tigers face off against Dartmouth and Harvard. Despite a rocky start with a doubles loss against Dartmouth, the team rallied in singles play, with standout performances from senior Maia Sung and first-year Bella Chhiv.

In a dramatic showdown against Harvard, Princeton found themselves trailing after losing three consecutive singles matches. However, the team displayed incredible resilience, with senior Neha Velaga and first-year Madeleine Jessup staging epic comeback wins to secure the victory.
