Women’s Tennis Selected to Host NCAA First Round Matches

The UCLA women’s tennis team has been selected as the No. 8 seed in the upcoming NCAA Division I Tennis Championship, marking their 38th consecutive appearance in the tournament since its inception in 1982. The Bruins, who finished the regular season with an impressive 18-5 record and claimed the Pac-12 Conference title, will host the first and second-round matches at the Los Angeles Tennis Center on May 3 and May 4.

In the first round, UCLA will face off against Summit League champion Denver, who enters the tournament with a six-match winning streak. The Bruins previously defeated the Pioneers 4-0 in the 2008 NCAA Championships, and will look to replicate that success in their upcoming matchup.

The other first-round match at UCLA’s regional will feature Texas Tech and San Diego State, with the winner advancing to the regional final on Saturday. The top eight seeds in the tournament, including UCLA, have the opportunity to host a Round of 16 match if they advance.

The NCAA Division I Tennis Championship will culminate in Stillwater, Oklahoma from May 17-19, where the final eight teams will compete for the national title at the Greenwood Tennis Center. All matches will follow the standard dual match format, with the first team to secure four points declared the winner.
