Women’s Tennis to Begin CAA Tournament with Match Against Monmouth on Thursday

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Elon University women’s tennis team is gearing up for the CAA Tournament, where they will face off against Monmouth in the first round. The Phoenix, seeded 5th in the tournament, will be hosting the event at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.

Elon is coming off a successful season, with a record of 13-9 and a trip to the semifinals of the CAA Tournament last year. The team is led by head coach Elizabeth Anderson, who is in her 20th season with the program.

Key players to watch for Elon include Sibel Tanik and Lizette Reding, who both earned All-CAA honors in singles and doubles last season. The team also boasts talented sophomores Helen Sarikulaya and Madison Cordisco, as well as newcomers Simone Bergeron, Ella Suk, and Mariana Reding.

In their last match, Elon won by default against North Carolina A&T but fell to William & Mary in a close battle. Lizette Reding, the team’s senior standout, reached a milestone of 50 career singles wins during the season.

The Phoenix has been strong in doubles play, winning the doubles point in 15 of their last 18 matches. They will look to continue their success in both doubles and singles as they take on Monmouth in the CAA Tournament.

Stay tuned for updates on the match, which will feature live scoring and updates on the team’s social media accounts. Admission to the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center is free, so come out and support the Phoenix as they aim for success in the tournament.
