Local businesses in Youngstown, Ohio had the opportunity to learn about state grants, aid, and contracts at a workshop held by the Minority Business Assistance Center. The workshop aimed to help minority, woman, and veteran business owners navigate the application process for state-level aid, which can ultimately help them expand their businesses.

Certification specialist Ayana Beulah emphasized the importance of the workshop in assisting business owners with the application process, stating that many owners are not aware of the opportunities available to them. The workshop provided guidance and support to help business owners overcome the challenges of applying for aid.

One business owner, Crystal Swiggett, shared her experience at the workshop. Swiggett, the owner of Raising Young Royalty Child Development Center, celebrated her business’s 1-year anniversary and is looking to expand her services to reach more children in need of quality education and care.

Swiggett, who has a background in education and is pursuing a doctorate in the field, highlighted the importance of workshops like this in helping her quickly expand her business to meet the growing demand for her services. By working with organizations like Valley Partners and the Youngstown Business Incubator, Swiggett hopes to access the tools and resources needed to continue providing quality care to children in her community.

Overall, the workshop provided valuable information and support to local business owners, empowering them to take advantage of state resources and opportunities for growth and expansion.
