Workshop for African Delegates Preparing for the Second Session of the Synod on Synodality

The Symposium of Episcopal Conferences of Africa and Madagascar (SECAM) is gearing up for an important workshop in collaboration with the African Synodality Initiative (ASI). The workshop, scheduled to take place from 23 – 26 April 2024 in Nairobi, Kenya, aims to prepare African Delegates for the Second Session of the Synod on Synodality in October 2024.

With objectives such as sharing experiences, deepening understanding of synodality, and reflecting on key questions for the upcoming Synod session, the workshop is set to be a crucial gathering for about 50 delegates and experts from across the African continent and its islands.

The Second session of the XVI Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops is a significant event following the first session held in the Vatican City last year. The first session brought together 364 participants from around the world, setting the stage for further discussions and deliberations on how the Church can become more synodal in its mission.

Fr. Rafael SIMBINE Junior, SECAM Secretary General, emphasized the importance of the workshop in preparing delegates for the upcoming Synod session. With a focus on fostering a missionary synodal dynamism within the Church, the workshop aims to gather valuable experiences and practices to contribute to the growth of the Church as a whole.
