Anstruther to Host World Music, Jazz, and Trad Tunes at East Neuk Festival

Anstruther is set to come alive with the sounds of world music, jazz, and traditional tunes during the East Neuk Festival from June 26-30. The town’s unique and intimate venues will play host to a lineup of local and international musicians, promising a weekend of unforgettable performances.

Among the highlights of the 2024 programme are festival favorites Julian Bliss and Renaud Garcia Fons, along with newcomers Esther Swift and Aoife ni Bhrian. The festival will kick off with the premiere of “Zulu,” a commissioned piece that tells the story of the Zulu fishing fleets that once dominated the East of Scotland. The performance will take place in the dramatic setting of the Zulu Gallery at the Scottish Fisheries Museum, evoking the history and heritage of the region.

Other must-see events include a performance by the duo Aoife ni Bhrian and Catrin Finch, known for their virtuosity and musical freedom, as well as a set by legendary bassist Renaud Garcia Fons and his quartet of musicians from around the Mediterranean. The weekend will come to a close with a night of high-spirited swing from Julian Bliss and his Septet, celebrating the music of Gershwin.

Festival Director Svend McEwan Brown expressed his excitement for the vibrant selection of music in Anstruther, complementing the classical music programme in Crail and Kilrenny. The East Neuk Festival promises to be a celebration of live music and its transformative power, bringing together audiences and performers in the picturesque setting of the East Neuk of Fife.
