Reading Time: < 1 minute

NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt saw a boost in viewership for the week of April 29, making it the only nightly news program to experience growth in both total viewers and the Adults 25-54 demographic. Despite this, ABC News’ World News Tonight with David Muir maintained its position as the most-watched evening news broadcast, holding the top spot for the 283rd week in total viewers and the 211th week in the demo.

World News Tonight averaged 7.233 million total viewers and 1.002 million viewers in the A25-54 demo, experiencing a slight decline of -4% in both categories compared to the previous week. In comparison to the same week in 2023, the program was down by -5% in total viewers and -11% in the demo.

NBC Nightly News came in second place with 6.010 million total viewers and 826,000 viewers in the A25-54 demo, marking a +1% gain in total viewers and +6% in the demo from the prior week. CBS Evening News followed in third place with 4.246 million total viewers and 620,000 in the A25-54 demo, experiencing a -4% drop in total viewers but a +2% gain in the demo.

Overall, World News Tonight continued its dominance in the evening news landscape, while NBC Nightly News and CBS Evening News made strides in viewership but still fell short of ABC’s flagship program.
