Xander Schauffele made history on Sunday by winning the PGA Championship with the lowest score in major championship history. The Olympic gold medallist clinched his first major victory with a six-foot birdie putt on the final hole at Valhalla, finishing at 21-under 263.

Schauffele’s final round of 65 was enough to edge out Bryson DeChambeau, who also put on a show with a 64. The two Americans battled it out until the very end, with Schauffele ultimately coming out on top with a birdie on the 18th hole.

The 30-year-old had to overcome challenges throughout the round, including mud on his golf ball and tricky bunker shots. But Schauffele remained focused and determined, delivering a clutch performance when it mattered most.

“I told myself this is my opportunity — capture it,” Schauffele said after sinking the winning putt.

DeChambeau, who finished in second place, praised Schauffele for his exceptional play, acknowledging that his own efforts fell short against such a strong competitor.

Canadian golfer Corey Conners also had a solid showing, finishing tied for 26th at 9 under. Overall, it was a thrilling and memorable week at Valhalla, with Schauffele etching his name in the record books with a well-deserved victory.

Schauffele’s win marks a significant milestone in his career and solidifies his status as a top contender in the world of golf. As he celebrates his first major triumph, fans can expect to see more great performances from this talented player in the future.
