Nineteen-year-old Carlton Bell Jr is basking in the glory of his recent achievement – winning the Prime Minister’s Youth Award for excellence in agriculture. The young entrepreneur, who hails from Scotts Hall, St Mary, was honoured for his dedication and hard work in the field of agriculture.

Bell, a first-year banking and finance student at The University of the West Indies, Mona, started his own farm, Scotts Hall’s Farms, at the age of 16. Despite facing challenges and setbacks along the way, Bell remained determined and focused on his goals.

His passion for agriculture, coupled with the support and guidance from his parents, has been instrumental in his success. Bell credits his early exposure to farming for shaping his career and instilling in him the values of education and integrity.

With livestock such as chickens, goats, and pigs, as well as crops like plantains and pumpkin, Bell’s farm has flourished over the years. He currently employs two full-time and four part-time workers, including 65-year-old Archibald Byfield, who describes Bell as a respectful and inspiring young man.

Looking ahead, Bell plans to invest further in his agribusiness, with a vision of becoming the CEO of a holding company. He is also a strong advocate for mentorship and volunteerism, believing in the power of positive role models and giving back to the community.

As he continues on his journey of success, Bell encourages other young people to pursue their dreams and never be discouraged by obstacles. With his unwavering determination and passion for agriculture, Carlton Bell Jr is truly a shining example of excellence in the field.
