Young female athletes inspired by the latest WNBA player

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Bishop Kearney High School Senior Ly’Asia Wilson is a force to be reckoned with on the basketball court, standing at just 5’4″ tall. Inspired by the success of Rochester-native Dyaisha Fair, who was recently drafted by the WNBA’s Las Vegas Aces, Wilson is determined to follow in her footsteps.

Wilson’s passion for basketball runs deep, as she has always dreamed of playing professionally, either in the WNBA or overseas. Despite her height, she has never let it hold her back, just like her role model Fair, who is also only 5’5″ tall.

Watching Fair’s journey from high school to Division 1 college basketball and now the WNBA draft has been a source of inspiration for Wilson. She admires Fair’s focus and determination in overcoming obstacles and achieving her dreams.

Wilson’s own journey has not been without challenges, as she tore her ACL a few years ago. However, with the support of her family and trainers, she has bounced back and received six scholarship offers. She emphasizes the importance of hard work, sacrifice, confidence, and academic excellence in pursuing her basketball dreams.

As a role model for younger athletes in Rochester, Wilson hopes to inspire others to believe in themselves and never give up on their dreams. With her eyes set on the prize, Wilson is determined to make her mark in the world of basketball, just like her idol Dyaisha Fair.
