Youngsville Eagles Suffer Tough Loss to Saegertown Panthers
In a Region 3 matchup on Monday, the Youngsville Eagles faced off against the Saegertown Panthers at Davis Street Field in Youngsville. The game ended in a disappointing 15-3 loss for the Eagles, who fell to 6-1 on the season.
The Panthers came out strong, putting up three runs in the opening inning thanks to a two-run triple from William Shaffer and a passed ball. Youngsville responded with a run of their own in the bottom of the inning, but a base running error cost them a chance to capitalize further.
Saegertown continued to dominate, scoring in four of five innings and taking advantage of the opportunities Youngsville provided. The Panthers extended their lead to 15-1 before Youngsville made a late push in the fifth inning.
Matt DeSimone led the Eagles with a 3-for-3 performance, including a two-run homer in the fifth inning. Despite their efforts, Youngsville was unable to overcome the deficit.
Youngsville coach Eddie Dorunda acknowledged the team’s shortcomings, stating, “We just didn’t come ready to play from warmups until the end of the game. Against a team like Saegertown, you can’t give up free bases.”
The Eagles will look to bounce back from this loss as they prepare for their next Region 3 contest against Cambridge Springs. With their season goals still within reach, Youngsville will need to regroup quickly and focus on improving their performance on the field.
