Former India cricketer Yuvraj Singh has taken legal action against two Delhi-based real estate firms for alleged violations of his privacy rights and delayed delivery of a dwelling unit in the national capital. The cricketer, through his legal representatives, has sent two separate legal notices invoking arbitration clauses to address the issues.
One of the legal notices seeks damages for the delay in the completion of the project and the inferior quality of the apartment that was promised to Yuvraj Singh. The notice also demands the delivery of a proper quality dwelling unit as per the initial agreement.
The notice names M/s Brilliant Etoile Private Limited and M/s Uppal Housing Private Limited as the parties responsible for the delayed possession of the dwelling units. Another notice was issued solely to Brilliant Etoile Private Limited for the infringement of Yuvraj Singh’s privacy rights.
The cricketer’s legal team highlighted the misuse of his brand value and personality rights in the promotion of the construction projects, which were in violation of the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2020. Despite the expiration of the MoU in 2023, the real estate firms allegedly continued to use Yuvraj Singh’s image for commercial purposes.
Yuvraj Singh emphasized that the unauthorized use of his image and brand was a violation of his intellectual property rights, including copyright, personality rights, and right to publicity. The legal notices aim to address these issues and seek appropriate remedies for the alleged violations.
