South African online fashion retailer Zando is stepping up its game with the launch of Zando Global, an international e-commerce division aimed at competing with fast-fashion giants Shein and Temu in the local market.
The popularity of Shein and Temu, known for their affordable clothing options, has put pressure on South African retailers to find ways to keep up with their budget-friendly prices. Zando Global aims to provide a trustworthy alternative for consumers who are hesitant to order internationally due to concerns about product quality and delivery reliability.
With a focus on offering hassle-free shopping, Zando Global ensures that South African shoppers can easily receive, collect, and return products. The retailer promises rigorous checks for every product before dispatching it to customers, as well as the use of local physical collection points for added convenience.
Zando, founded in 2012 and part of the Jumia Group, will partner with Buffalo International Logistics, the same logistics partner used by Temu and Shein. Free shipping will be available for orders starting at 550 rand ($28.76).
The launch of Zando Global comes at a time when e-commerce is booming in South Africa, with the pandemic accelerating the shift towards online shopping. The move also coincides with the upcoming launch of U.S. e-commerce giant Amazon in the country, signaling a new era of competition in the online retail space.
