Zelenskiy reports Su-25 bomber shot down as Russia targets Ukraine regions

Russian attacks on Ukraine’s Kharkiv and Dnipro regions, as well as the Black Sea port city of Odesa, have resulted in the deaths of at least two civilians and significant damage to infrastructure, homes, and commercial buildings, according to regional officials.

President Volodymyr Zelenskiy condemned the attacks, stating that Russia had used missiles and guided aerial bombs against communities and frontline positions. He emphasized that Russia had no desire for peace and called for international support to force Russia to leave Ukraine alone.

In response to the attacks, Ukraine’s air force successfully downed 13 Shahed drones targeting the Kharkiv and Dnipro regions overnight. Zelenskiy also reported that a Russian Su-25 fighter-bomber was brought down by Ukraine’s 110th mechanized brigade in the eastern Donetsk region.

Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu claimed that Moscow had taken control of 547 sq km of territories in Ukraine this year, including areas Moscow says it has annexed.

The attacks resulted in casualties and damage, with reports of a 49-year-old man killed in Slobozhanske, an 82-year-old woman killed in Kharkiv city, and multiple injuries in Odesa. A food factory in Kharkiv city was set ablaze by a Russian missile, injuring six employees.

Despite the air defenses successfully downing all 13 attack drones, falling debris injured four people and sparked a fire in an office building. Additional attacks in the Dnipropetrovsk region resulted in injuries and damage to infrastructure.

The situation remains tense, with casualties and damage continuing to mount as the conflict between Russia and Ukraine escalates.
