Ukraine is eagerly awaiting the approval of the US Senate after the House passed a $95 billion aid package over the weekend, which includes crucial assistance for the country and its allies. President Joe Biden assured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that once the Senate gives the green light, the US will send much-needed air defense weaponry, along with $61 billion in security aid for Ukraine.

Zelenskyy revealed that Biden also promised additional support, including long-range and artillery capabilities, in the upcoming aid package. This aid is essential as Ukraine faces increased attacks from Russia, with Moscow targeting key infrastructure and endangering the lives of millions of Ukrainians.

The delay in approving the aid package was due to opposition from some Republican lawmakers who were hesitant to allocate further funds to Ukraine. However, with the House’s approval and the Senate expected to vote on the package this week, Biden has pledged to swiftly sign it into law.

In a show of solidarity, a bipartisan delegation of US Congress members recently met with Zelenskyy in Kyiv to discuss Ukraine’s urgent needs and the importance of US assistance in countering Russia’s aggression. The delegation emphasized the necessity of providing Ukraine with the weapons it requires, including the Army Tactical Missile System.

Zelenskyy also highlighted Ukraine’s aspirations to join NATO and the country’s efforts to strengthen its defense capabilities.
