Portland women’s tennis players Iva Zelic and Sally Pethybridge have been recognized with 2024 All-WCC honors in both singles and doubles, as announced by the league office. Zelic, a senior, earned a spot on the All-WCC First Team in singles for the first time in her career, standing out as the only player not from nationally ranked Pepperdine or San Diego on the six-player first team this year. Zelic’s impressive performance this spring included a 14-4 dual singles record at the top of the lineup, with a 6-2 record against league opponents.

In addition to her singles accolades, Zelic, a Zagreb, Croatia native, teamed up with junior Sally Pethybridge to secure first team honors in doubles. The duo became just the third Portland doubles team to achieve this recognition. Pethybridge also received All-WCC Second Team recognition in singles after posting a 16-5 record in dual matches.

The Portland Pilots, led by Zelic and Pethybridge, have qualified for the 2024 WCC Tournament and are set to face the Pacific Tigers in the opening round. The tournament will take place at the Aztec Tennis Center on the San Diego State University campus.

The WCC also announced other notable awards, including Coach of the Year going to Per Nilsson from Pepperdine, Player of the Year to Savannah Broadus from Pepperdine, and Freshman of the Year to Jasmine Conway, also from Pepperdine. The recognition of Zelic and Pethybridge highlights the talent and success of the Portland women’s tennis program.
