Zimbabwe’s Zimtrade Sets Sights on Angolan Market

ZimTrade, the national trade development and promotion agency, is spearheading an exciting initiative to boost trade relations between Zimbabwe and Angola. The outward seller mission to Angola, scheduled for 14-16 May, aims to strengthen ties between local exporters and key buyers in the Angolan market.

With President Mnangagwa’s vision of expanding Zimbabwe’s presence in Africa, this trade mission aligns perfectly with the country’s goals. By leveraging the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), Zimbabwe aims to establish a solid foothold in Angola and enhance economic cooperation between the two nations.

ZimTrade’s CEO, Mr Allan Majuru, emphasized the importance of this mission in shaping Zimbabwe’s future exports to Angola. He highlighted the potential for lasting partnerships and increased bilateral trade, which could significantly boost economic growth for both countries.

The trade mission offers a platform for Zimbabwean companies to showcase their quality products and explore new export opportunities in Angola. Additionally, it presents a chance for local businesses to identify potential sources of raw materials and establish supply networks with Angolan partners.

Angola’s growing import market, valued at US$17.71 billion in 2022, presents a lucrative opportunity for Zimbabwean companies to supply in-demand products such as meat, processed foods, and agricultural implements. The trade mission aims to capitalize on these opportunities and foster collaboration between businesses from both countries.

As Zimbabwe and Angola seek to expand their economies and benefit from regional integration initiatives like AfCFTA, the trade mission serves as a crucial step towards enhancing economic ties and unlocking new avenues for growth.
