This comes after Zverev faced serious allegations of domestic abuse, with the court charging him with violently strangling his ex-girlfriend in May 2020. Despite initially denying the charges and filing an appeal, Zverev ultimately reached an agreement that required him to make a significant payment.

Following the resolution of the case, Zverev expressed relief and a desire to move on from the controversy. In a post-match press conference at the French Open, where he reached the final, Zverev emphatically stated that he never wanted to discuss the matter again.

With a current ranking of no. 4, Zverev has had a successful 2024 season, including victories at the Australian Open and Rome. He is set to face world no. 3 Carlos Alcaraz in the French Open final, with a head-to-head record of 7-4 in Zverev’s favor.
